Stoic/Pointless - Single Mothers

All the kids they think that they’re romantics

And it’s sweet but it’s short sighted and tragic

As the sights are nice getting lost along the way

But, all that time just sharpening knives is a waste

When the dull blade it can cut just as deep

It goes from lust to love to want to need

Codependency can feel so cheap

Wouldn’t you agree?

Ah ya, but

We’ll always have

The records that we don’t know how to split up

Not sure exactly who bought what

This ain’t supposed to come off as hopeless

Or optimistic or stoic

Just pointless

We’ll always have

The nights that neither of us want to trust

Not sure exactly who’s done what

Not sure exactly who’s going to give up on us

When we were kids we were so enchanted

And it was nice but elaborate and manic

Packing up all the games we used to play

I never thought we’d look back at those years as a waste but

The old tricks they’re so easily seen

Remembering now doesn’t even feel like that was even me

Young love ages so cheap

Wouldn’t you agree?

The records that we don’t know how to split up

An olive branch

And a little time passed

Maybe we’ll get some of that magic back

Minus the suspicions and contradictions

And just let a little love grow and relax
