Valerie went up in the hills

Through the wilderness

She was born in and knew so well.

She carried her letters there,

Away from her mother’s care.

Turned them from fire to ash, then air,

Until the silence became a shrill.

Hazy, mazy, were the valleys of her mind.

All the haze she had

could not cure the love inside.

Of her family sins i cannot tell.

She picked my fingers and cast a spell,

Leaving me flipping coins down the well.

To stay with them, she must return from the pearly gates.

So she laid a daisy dagger down,

Under the bed, wrapped in fur,

Calling for the crows to stir,
