He was burning through the winter

A little fever down in the cellar left him bleeding from brow

And all the water from the river for the burning couldn’t keep him from the

poisoning now

Oh he took it so hard on the chin

It was winter that would do him in

For he went wild as the wolves and ran into the snow covered clouds

So that he could see that the whole world was breaking down

All the wealthy and all the waring they get a ticket

To ride a rail into the underground

All the righteous and all the tilling are celebrating

A time for making such a beautiful sound

They were raised by an old mountain man

Sprouting seeds from the skin of his hand

One day growing a tree so that he could climb up through the clouds

So that they could see that the whole world was breaking down

All the mountain miners reaching for the gold and the deeper They will go in

that hellfire mountain hole

And the only barter they know is the price of each one of their souls

And the only practice they know rid that old mountain man from his home

Oh a debt for each one of your sins
