You kowtow to sooty remains

From a nocturnal ceremony

Gypsum painted faces

Solemn and torchlit

Image reflected on flashing mirrors

And glinting knives

Limbs hacked off body rent apart

To the sound of bullroarers and drums

Hot blood-filled heart carried off

Roasted on a spit then boiled

Mortal spark in an animated dust
