Midsummer’s night, revelers caught in a haze

The air hangs thick with their perfume

You’re enchantingly eloquent in every phrase

As we dance to a familiar tune

Black and white memories swept me away

And the eyes of someone I knew

Made me succumb to familiar pains

'Neath the light of a silvery moon

Stockholm or Paris, London or Venice

Where did we last rendezvous?

Centuries passed since the last time you swore

That you would see me soon

Toe to toe, ancient soul pierced by your gaze

Graceful hair kissed by pale blooms

I’m a fool, I’m moondrunk, and I’m tasting stars

'Neath the light of a silvery moon

Drawn by words of late romantics

Strange, familiar elegance

If I am dreaming, let me sleep through the night

Forget the broken promises

Embrace the warm and tenebrous

The world only fades for the length of a sigh

Speaking in couplets and drinking our wine

The glow of the dawn comes too soon
