Through the trees with the whispering leaves

Where a blanket of black tucks the sun in for sleep

I catch the eyes of the stars in the sky

Blinking away as they watch me tonight

She left me here after breaking my heart

But it’s on me, I knew she was grief from the start

Looking up to the heavens above

There’s no constellation showing me any love

I can hear her speak to me

Now back on the gated community turf

Where the call to come home just gets lost in the surf

All the neighbors have bolted their doors

While the line that I walk opens out to the shore
