Born in New York, 1851

Knew early on, I would be a librarian

And a rapper too, who knew?

Library hip-hop, woop woop!

Went to school, studied really hard

Graduated and then got a job

Columbia University

A chief librarian, baby!

At the young age of 21

I invented the Dewey Decimal System

It changed libraries forever

Modern libraries, I’m your poppa

First library school, I’m the founder

New York Library, I’m director

But that’s not all to my résumé;

I started the one and only ALA!
