A young scholar with super knowledge

Never thought I’d see the day that I would have to drop out of college

I guess I prolly' should of been more dedicated to getting educated

Do more papers so I could go get 'em graded

I mean, for my work ethic I had no respect

Cause I only made it through a deep connect, it’s who ya know

But you would think I would take advantage cause these chances vanish

Should of been over-zealous cause when it comes to learning man you gotta stay

famished

But for some reason new things seemed rancid

And life won’t wait man that’s word to rancid

Feeling like a prisoner in the school and whether I make it out or not I gotta

pay a ransom

Life’s a woman on ice I tried to Tessa Virtue and ended up dancing

And now my consciousness wasn’t fully aware of the consequence of not

completing this obstacle

That I made more complicated than it needed to be

So when it was time for the challenge

It was too complex for me to conquer it

And if I don’t change

Don’t treat me a way

Cause I’m a young scholar

Try to bring shame

Damn, I should of, put in my best work

School wasn’t with my lack of effort

Calls to the office saying to go to class more often cause

Financial aid was gunna drop what they had offered

But I didn’t follow orders

Guess my mind was distorted

I have no one else to blame

I put the nail in the coffin

I tried to be a rebel I

Should of been more eager

Cause I end up moving backwards, lost the vision like Leber

C, D, F's all on my name

Knowing I don’t want them there

Still tell 'em that school is fine

Cause that’s what they wanna hear

Even though things are going wrong

But I cannot tell 'em that

Cause once they hear about the slack

Man they’ll probably treat you bad

Man they’ll probably think you’re stupid

Man they’ll probably think you’re losing

Man they’ll probably think you’ll make excuses to make no improvements

Man they’ll probably say you gotta brain but you don’t ever use it

Just a D student a genius with no records to prove it

I watched my sister get her bachelor’s

And I’m gon' watch her get her master’s too

And everybody telling me

To go back to school

Cause at her celebration

They said the time has been passed to you

Yea, that opened up the floor

I tryda ignore the conversation

Cause I feel insecure

Knowing damn well that if I go back I’m gunna do poor

Cause when it comes to school and music

Which one am I into more?

And I ain’t gon' lie about it

Few years ago, my school advisor

Met my mother and tried to advise her

Not to pay too much for college

Cause she was doubting

She was right about

But in my mind I was making it

Cause I spit Riker’s Island

And everyone says I need a fallback

But what happens if my fall back starts falling back

And I don’t know where I fall at

Matter fact, I ain’t gon' make the 'ifs' a hassle

Imma throw the cap up right after I cross the stage

And change sides of the tassel
