These days I’m layin' low in San Diego, and you know that’s where the sun

shines all the time

But every now and then I get the bad jones to go home, so I call some old

friends of mine

And they ask me if I like the place I’m livin' in, I tell 'em California’s

pretty happening

But buddy out of everywhere I’ve been…

Should have stopped in Wichita, that was where I had it all

There’s a woman there with brown hair she never did-a one thing wrong

Wonder what she’s doing now wonder how her life turned out

I’ve come from a long long line of dreamers, and leavers, could have been the

gypsy in my blood

Maybe I saw one too many wheatfields, big deal, maybe it got too close to love

That was when I thought I had it figured out, really wasn’t ready then to

settle down
