One hour before I awoke

In the answer form you spoke

'Sure, I think about death, too'

I asked if a question provoked that

But that answer was all she would speak

She said it each day for a week

One day I woke before you

And said, 'I think about it lots, too'

Smiling yet not saying words

Her wondering was all that was heard
