You can pretend you’re a sailor

Just because you have a boat in the isles

You can pretend you’re a tailor

Cause you’re always dressed to the nines

Or you might think you’re a policeman

Just because you told a man how to drive

Well I hate to be breaking up your peace, man

But it looks to me like you need a life

If we pretend hard enough

We can say the worlds a beautiful place

If we pretend hard enough

We can hide its most ugly face

If we pretend hard enough

We can see what was accomplished by the human race

But it’s all about nothing

If they still can’t spare a child

You can pretend you’re a doctor

Just because you sold your herbal tea

You can pretend you’re a painter

Who will be recognized in history

You can pretend you’re a baker

Just because you baked an apple pie

Well I hate to be breaking up your peace man

But stop trying to pretend you’re civilized

What you pretend is only your imagination

Even if you need it to avoid all those frustrations

In the mean time life fulfills its cruel reality

Outside your bubble, there’s a world in deep discrepancy
