October rapping on my doorstep

fills my heart with fears

'till Autumn’s rushing leaves all fall

winter’s ghost appears

for Winter’s cold and in won’t be the same

with no-one to call my name

upon my window taps the time

a never ending rhyme it seems

and the morning looks like rain

and yet if I could touch your face

and make you take your place with me

then the morning wouldn’t rain
