When my grandmother Bee was a girl she was told

Of a towering elm 300 years old

His branches were claws that pulled other trees down

He had roots growing wild to the neighbouring town

But his heart was as cruel as his looks would suggest

Because deep in his bark was a nest

Gonna write a letter to someone

Gonna write it eloquently

So when that someone gets it

It’ll paint a picture for me

Gonna paint them into the forest

Under rain clouds heavy as lead

And every leaf dead at their feet

And every animal fled
